Nelson Mandela once said that what counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived, but the difference we have made to the lives of others. It’s a concept I come back to often, because it frames an ideal into something practical. Making a difference is not just for the powerful, the wealthy or those with available time; any of us willing to notice a need and do something about it can make an impact.
Making a difference often begins with noticing what is missing. We saw that people with a disability frequently miss the opportunity to share in some of the special occasions that many of us take for granted. The excitement of getting dressed up, the buzz of a big night out, the simple joy of a dance floor and good company. Everyone deserves those moments, and the chance to make new friends along the way.
That is why this October we are proud to host our inaugural YellowBridge Twilight Ball, a gala evening created for people with a disability to dress up, let their hair down and have some fun. A night that is entirely theirs, a night to feel special and to connect with others. We’ve secured the Armitage Centre, amazing catering and incredible music to ensure it will be a night for all to remember.
It is our dream for the Twilight Ball to become a much loved fixture for years to come. To help it grow into everything it can be, we are looking for a sponsor or partner to walk alongside us. If that sounds like you or your business, we’d love the opportunity to connect and have a conversation.
We can all be the change we want to see in our community. This October, we are choosing to make a difference by giving people a night they will never forget, and we would love for you to be part of it.
